Have your dark lips always made you stop in the cosmetic aisle wondering what will suit you the best? Lip balms may just be the answer you are looking for. Read on to know why.
What causes dark lips?
Some of us are born with strong melanin concentration in our lips. For others, hyperpigmentation of lips can happen due to genetics, pregnancy, stress, medication, lip biting, wrong toothpaste, anemia, or even allergic reactions.
How can you reduce the darkness of your lips?
Managing one’s lifestyle by reducing stress, smoking, and sun exposure can help you lighten your lips to an extent.
It requires time and patience. But you can speed things up a bit by using the right type of lip balms.
How does a lip balm help lighten lips?
If you choose a quality lip balm, it will give your lips the much needed protective layer of moisture without adding harsh chemicals.
In addition to providing SPF protection, lip balms can also give your lips a tint of your choice thus doubling up as a lipstick.
A good lip balm hydrates as well as replenishes the loss of vitamins in your lips.
What types of lip balms are good for dark lips?
Lip balms that contain vitamins are a good choice for dark lips as they treat possible vitamin deficiency as well as chapped skin. Going organic and chemical-free is always a better choice so go natural whenever you can. A good lip balm should be able to protect the delicate skin of your lips from harsh UV rays so choose one with a good SPF.
